At the heart of every great Morgan breeding program is a group of carefully selected mares.  By breeding several Morgan mares to the same Morgan stallion we can determine which mares produce superior foals.  We are fortunate to be able to raise several foals a year.  This gives us many foals to compare. You will see in our mares pedigrees that most have a line or two to Marvelous Ideal who was one of our favorite stallions. If they are unrelated to Marvelous Ideal we like to add some of that blood back in
by breeding to Marvelous Intrigue (a son of Marvelous Ideal) or to Blacksaddle Starbuck (a grandson of Marvelous Ideal).
Our goal is to improve with each generation.  We have selected a few of our stallion's daughters as our future mares in hopes that they will produce that 'perfect' horse that all breeders strive for!

(Santa Fe Renegade x Rosemont Megan)

We were so thrilled with Megan's 2006 Filly, Baymount's Mexicali Rose (Cali), that we bred Megan to Santa Fe Renegade for a 2007 foal. Megan came through for us again and foaled an almost identical bay filly!  We named this 2007 bay filly, Baymount's Santa Clara, after her sire (Santa Fe Renegade) and my alma mater (Santa Clara University).  Her barn name will be Clare.  She is so sweet.  We couldn't be happier with this matched pair of full siblings. They are both gorgeous and should be excellent additions to our mare group.

(Santa Fe Renegade x Rosemont Megan)

Foaled 4-03-06

Megan has always thrown us fantastic foals and this 2006 bay filly is no exception.  She is so pretty with her huge eyes lined in black.  We are really pleased with this cross with Santa Fe Renegade.  We call her Cali.  She has her mother's coloring which is clear coated bay.  We hope she will make some really gold clear coated palomino's and buckskin's for us in the future. Cali is in foal to Starbuck for a spring 2010 foal.This will be one of the last two foals by Starbuck.

(Blacksaddle Starbuck x Tov Cristina Caminos)

This 2004 dark buckskin is out of two of our favorite horses.  We love this cross of Starbuck and Cristine.  We used to own Bianca's mother Cristine.  Cristine was one of my personal favorites and I loved riding her everywhere including the beach.  Bianca is turning out to be a wonderful athletic riding horse herself. Bianca is very affectionate and will follow you around the ranch.  Bianca is shown here as a two year old. Bianca is a linebreeding between a Marvelous Ideal grandson and a Marvelous Ideal daughter.

Kimberley is a big bodied, lovely black filly we fell in love with when farm visiting Mireva Morgans, in Alberta, Canada.  We purchased her as a weanling in the fall of 2004.  Thank you Lesley Heck for making this transaction go so smoothly.  We started Kimberley under saddle before she foaled. We are hoping to put more time on her this fall. We couldn't be more pleased with her first filly. What a doll! See her on the sales page. Kimberley is in foal to Marvelous Intrigue for a spring 2010 foal and repeat of the same cross as Baymount's Sienna.

(Blacksaddle Starbuck x Alves Surprize)

Foaled 4-27-04

This bright red filly really surprised us with her color.  Her mother, Surprize, had 5 bay foals and one black foal before having Ginger.  We had declared Surprize to be a homozygous bay after that many bay foals.  Wow, were we shocked to see a chestnut!  Surprize always has tall foals and Ginger is no exception.  She was a tall gangly filly and she was on our sales list for two years before we decided we would pull her off and keep her!  The shorter stockier foals seem to sell first but these tall ones just need longer to blossom.  She has a wonderful disposition. We started Ginger under saddle before she foaled. We are hoping to put more time on her this fall.  Ginger measures 15 hands. She is pictured here as a four year old awaiting her first foal. Ginger is a cross between a Marvelous Ideal grandson and a Marvelous Ideal granddaughter. Alves Surprize is in foal to Marvelous Intrigue for a spring 2010 foal. This will be a repeat cross of Baymount's O'Riley that we like so well.

Splendor s a 2000 dark bay mare with some old California bloodlines  she has a nice, big, stocky, muscular body which she passes onto her foals. Her head is gorgeous and she is very typey.  People always comment "Now that is what a Morgan is suppose to look like."  Splendor has been an awesome cross with Starbuck and her foals just seem to get better and better.  Splendor is a Marvelous Ideal granddaughter. Splendor is in foal to Dragonfire Kirin for a 2010 foal.

This 1994, tall, pretty, bay mare is one of our top producers.  She is an easy breeder as you can tell from her list of foals!  Surprize has produced 10 foals for us and is only 14 years old. My vet says I should be keeping her fillies since she is such a fertile mare. Surprize is 15.1 and her foals are always tall and pretty and have Surprizes great legs and feet. Her 2008 colt Baymount's O'Riley by Marvelous Intrigue is one of her nicest yet. Surprize is a Marvelous Ideal granddaughter.

(QP Alabama x Mandolin Rose)

Foaled 4-10-08

Mandolin is a tall, very big bodied mare that measures 15.3 barefoot.  She is a super sweet, very cooperative, loveable mare. She loves to be handled and groomed. She is great on trails, has lots of go and is polite on trail with other horses. See her elegant 2008 filly at the top of this page. Mandy is in foal to Starbuck.This will be Starbuck's last foal.
